Mosaic is the detail work — the material you use where a large tile would be clumsy, or where you want one small area doing something the rest of the room isn't. A shower niche. A powder room floor. A border. A splashback that earns a second look.
Because mosaics come sheeted, they can follow curves, steps and shower falls, that a large tile simply can't. And because the individual pieces are small, they carry pattern and colour in a way a single large surface never manages.
Our mosaic range spans natural stone, porcelain, glass and natural shell. Here's how the main formats differ:
- Basketweave — interlocking rectangles and squares in two-tone marble. Classic, slightly heritage, and the most traditionally elegant option in the range. Carrara with Thassos, Calacatta Gold with Nero Marquina, Botticino with Thassos.
- Penny Round — small circles, soft and quietly nostalgic. Beautiful on shower floors, where the density of grout lines does practical work as well as decorative.
- Hexagon — geometric and more contemporary in feel. Reads as pattern from a distance and as craft up close.
- Kit Kat — slim finger tiles, our largest mosaic format by range. Linear, modern, and equally at home laid vertically or horizontally.
- Herringbone & Chevron — directional patterns that give a wall movement. Our Tweed range covers this in Thassos, Taj Green and Rosa Travertine.
- Fluted Mosaics — ribbed and three-dimensional stone, where the texture rather than the pattern does the work. Mini Flute, Concave and 3D profiles.
- Mother of Pearl — natural shell, iridescent and unlike anything else we stock. The surface shifts colour as you move past it, which no photograph conveys.
If you're using mosaic as an accent, order it alongside samples of the surrounding tile. Mosaic is judged in relation to what's next to it, never on its own — and our Olivetti and Tuscany travertine mosaics in particular are better in the hand than on a screen.
